Marshall Plan Writing Software

Today I purchased The Marshall Plan Writing Software, or at least hubby bought it for me. Isn't he sweet?

I'd been looking at different plotting programs for awhile. As a 'flying into the mist' writer a.k.a. writing by the seat of your pants, I've been advised by quite a few people to plan out my writing before sitting down to actually write.

Easier said than done, at least for me.

I've done the Snowflake method, the Sit and Ponder method, The Beginning, Middle and End method even the Percentage Method. For those that don't know this one, basically your novel is split into three parts, 25/55/20, similar to acts in a play.

For me, none of these have worked. I seem to get a mental block and my mind shuts down.

A friend uses Scrivener and says it's the best thing since sliced bread. Sounds great but it only works on Macs, so for me out of the question.

Someone else said they have had success using Marshall Planning so after much debating and praying about it, hubby said to try it. Now it's not cheap but a lot cheaper than not finishing a novel. And, isn't that what the goal is all about?

So, today it was purchased and downloaded. Tentatively I opened it. Would it be worth the money? Would it do what I needed it to? Was this all just a waste of time?

So far so good. Rather than using Protagonist, Antagonist etc. It uses Lead, Opposition, Confidante and Romantic Involvement.

YES!!!

Finally something that works for me!

I've filled out the characters and their likes/dislikes etc and have started on the main story line with action/reaction.

My thoughts on the program?

Love it.

It's like Mr. Marshall had me in mind when he wrote it. It's simple and surprisingly thorough.

I've already seen where this manuscript can be improved and what subplots work best.

As to the price? Well if it works for me then it's worth it.

Hi Lee, bless you for following! I have Scrivener and I like it a lot. But the Marshall Plan sounds very interesting. Keep the updates coming. I am liking the sound of this even more than Scrivener! Good to 'meet' another Aussie.

I am trying to join your blog as a follower, but can't seem to manage it for some unknown reason. Will try again tomorrow.

Hi Dorothy, so great to meet you! Scrivener is supposed to be one of the best programs but Marshall Plan is pulling everything together nicely.

I've added your blog to my bloglist too, the more the merrier, especially another Aussie!
