New Year's Resolution

I was asked recently what my New Year’s resolution was.

Like most people, each year I pick one of the usual, you know;

weight loss (there’s that cute dress I like),

keeping my house tidier (though hubby would probably die from shock if our house didn’t have some clutter)

and the dreaded...I need to exercise more (ugh).

The only problem is three weeks later I feel like a complete failure. That cute dress is a distant dream, unless it’s made of a super-stretchy fabric, and my house looks like it’s been held captive by a rebel force and then bombed for the fun of it. And as for exercise, well let's just say the dogs are once again looking at me in disgust, as their daily walk just ceased to exist.

And I don’t think I’m the only one paddling that canoe.

So this year I’ve decided no more resolutions. Nil. Nada. Zilch.

Instead I’m going for a life-style change.

Sounds scary doesn’t it?

Don’t worry, when I mentioned it to my son he gave me one of those horrified looks and asked if it involved adding anything green to his meals. I said, 'No', he said, 'Praise God'.

What it does involve is simple.

So simple it was one of those AHA moments where, not only did a light bulb flash above my head, but I heard the Welsh Men’s Choir sing the Hallelujah Chorus.

I’m going to read my Bible.

Yep. That’s it. That’s my big plan.

However, not only am I going to read it, but I’m reading it in Chronological Order.

And, I’m going to start praying the word.

That’s it. That’s my life-style change for this year. No more wishy-washy-can-I-keep-this-exercise-diet-cute-dress-thing-going, but read my Bible, properly…and pray the word.

I believe this is going to be a year of getting closer to the Lord, and I'm looking forward to sharing my journey.

So you've all been warned.

And now that I've made the decision that no longer will I be a slave to the dreaded diet/exercise/shame cycle, you'll have to excuse me...the midday movie is on and a Lamington is calling my name.

Simple. But it will challenge/change you! A beautiful way to begin the year.

You'll might notice things will happen to put you off, but persevere. The Lord promises He'll draw near to those who really want to now Him in a deeper way!
