The Humble Capsicum.

23rd April - Vegetable

Aprilphotoaday

Today's challenge was to take a picture of a vegetable. Yes, that's right, a vegetable.

Sounds easy, right?

It's not. Trying to pick the perfect vegetable for your photo isn't easy at all.

Most have marks, aren't a uniform colour, or are downright boring.

Not the humble capsicum.

Notice the way the light plays over the skin, creating a shimmer of intoxicating hues.

The capsicum, or as they're known in some countries...peppers, are widely suited to any dish. They can be fried, baked, roasted or even eaten raw.

Truly a remarkable vegetable.

And, yes, you're correct. I had nothing in the cupboard, so decided to go with a capsicum. Which isn't a vegetable at all, it's a fruit.

Oops!

One of my favourite vegetable/fruits. Grilled, and marinated in vinegar and oil, with a sliver of garlic!! Mmmm. Best little salad :)
